- 2 cups All-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon Baking powder
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 cup cubed Butter, chilled
- 3/4 cup Milk
- 500 g Ground beef halal
- 1 medium Onion finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
- 1 cup Cheddar cheese grated
- 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
- 1 Egg beaten for wash
Step 1 – Prepare the Dough
In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
Add cubed butter and rub into the flour using your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Gradually pour in the milk, stirring until a dough forms.
Turn out onto a floured surface and knead lightly.
Note: Don’t overwork the dough; a light touch keeps the pockets tender.
Step 2 – Make the Filling
In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned.
Add onions and garlic powder, cooking until onions are translucent.
Remove from heat and stir in BBQ sauce.
Step 3 – Assemble the Hot Pockets
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Roll out the dough to 1/4 inch thickness and cut into 6 rectangles.
Divide the filling and cheese among the rectangles, placing on one side.
Fold the dough over and seal the edges with a fork.
Step 4 – Bake
Place the pockets on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Brush with egg wash.
Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
