Step 1 – Prepare The Broccoli

  • Wash the broccoli florets thoroughly.
  • Simmer them in a basket over boiling water.
  • Cover and steam for about 5-7 minutes until they are bright green and tender.
  • Steaming is a fantastic way to retain the maximum amount of nutrients in vegetables.

Step 2 – Make The Seasoning Mix

  • In a bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper.
  • Whisk together until well blended.
  • A good whisking brings together ingredients beautifully, ensuring each broccoli floret is evenly coated.

Step 3 – Toss The Broccoli

  • Remove the steamed broccoli from heat and transfer to a large bowl.
  • Pour the seasoning mix over the broccoli.
  • Toss well to ensure all the florets are coated with the seasoning.
  • Tossing your broccoli in the seasoning while it’s still warm will help it absorb all the flavors.

Notes

  • For a crispier texture, pop the seasoned broccoli under a broiler for 2 minutes.
