Equipment

  • Grill or skillet
  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Spatula
  • Food thermometer (to ensure your turkey burgers are cooked to perfection)

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground turkey
  • 1/4 cup Fresh parsley chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 4 Whole wheat buns
  • As desired Your choice of toppings

Instructions

Step 1- Prepare the Patties

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, chopped parsley, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper.
  • Mix thoroughly but gently—overmixing can make your burgers tough.
  • Shape the mixture into four equal patties, about 3/4 inch thick.
  • Note: A good patty is shaped with love and care. Ensure it’s not too packed; a gentle but firm press is all you need.

Step 2- Cook the Burgers

  • Heat olive oil in a grill pan over medium heat or preheat your grill.
  • Place the patties on the skillet or grill and cook for about 5 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  • Be sure to check the doneness with a food thermometer.
  • Warning: Always ensure your turkey burgers are cooked thoroughly to avoid any foodborne illnesses.

Step 3- Assemble the Burgers

  • Toast the whole wheat buns lightly on the grill or skillet.
  • Place each patty on a bun and add your favorite toppings such as lettuce, tomato, onion, or avocado.
  • Fact: Toppings not only add flavor but also a crunch and freshness that elevate the burger from good to great!

Notes

  • For juicier burgers, consider adding a tablespoon of olive oil or a small grated onion to your turkey mixture. This will help keep the patties moist while cooking.
  • Don’t press down on the burgers while they’re cooking. It might be tempting, but it squeezes out the juices.
