  • 1 head Green cabbage chopped
  • 500 g Ground beef Halal

  • 1 can 400g Diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup Cheddar cheese shredded
  • To taste Salt
  • To taste Black pepper
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil

Instructions

Step 1 – Prep the Cabbage

  • Heat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Chop the cabbage into bite-sized pieces.
  • This is the foundation of your casserole, so make sure those pieces are uniform!

Step 2 – Brown the Beef

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add ground beef and onion, cooking until beef is browned and onions are translucent.
  • A well-browned beef brings out a richer flavor in your casserole.

Step 3 – Combine Ingredients

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked beef and onions with chopped cabbage, cooked rice, diced tomatoes, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Mix well to ensure everything is evenly distributed.

Step 4 – Transfer to Baking Dish

  • Grease your baking dish lightly with some olive oil.
  • Transfer the mixture into the dish and spread evenly.

Step 5 – Bake the Casserole

  • Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  • Cheese should be golden, not burnt, so keep an eye on it!

Notes

  • For a crisper top, broil the casserole for the last 5 minutes.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and taste even better the next day.
