Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • Wooden spoon
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • 8×8 inch baking dish
  • Parchment paper

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1/3 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 cup Mini marshmallows
  • 1 cup Cherry-flavored chips
  • 1 cup Semisweet chocolate
  • 1/2 cup Peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup Chopped peanuts
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Cherry Mixture

  • Heat sugar, heavy cream, and marshmallows in a saucepan over medium heat.
  • Stir until the marshmallows melt and the mixture is smooth.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the cherry-flavored chips until melted.
  • Note: Keep the heat medium to avoid burning the marshmallows, which can create a bitter flavor.

Step 2: Form the Base

  • Pour the cherry mixture into a parchment-lined baking dish.
  • Spread evenly and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour until set.

Step 3: Make the Chocolate Topping

  • Melt semisweet chocolate and peanut butter in a saucepan over low heat.
  • Stir continuously until the mixture is smooth.
  • Remove from the heat and mix in the chopped peanuts and vanilla extract.
  • Warning: Be cautious with the heat when melting chocolate. Too high a temperature can cause it to seize!

Step 4: Combine Layers

  • Pour the chocolate mixture over the chilled cherry base.
  • Spread evenly and return to the refrigerator until the chocolate sets.

Notes

  • For a crunchier texture, add more chopped peanuts to the topping.
  • If cherry-flavored chips are unavailable, try substituting with raspberry or strawberry chips for a different but equally delicious flavor profile.
