- 4 sticks Cinnamon sticks
- 4 cups Water
- 2 tablespoons Honey
- 1 small piece Optional: Fresh ginger
Step 1 – Prep Your Cinnamon
Place your cinnamon sticks into the tea kettle or saucepan.
If you’re adding ginger, peel and slice it before tossing it in with the cinnamon.
Note: Using whole cinnamon sticks rather than ground cinnamon helps prevent the tea from becoming too cloudy.
Step 2 – Boil and Simmer
Pour the water over the cinnamon and ginger.
Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 10 minutes to allow the spices to fully infuse.
Warning: Keep an eye on your kettle to prevent it from boiling over!
Step 3 – Sweeten and Serve
Remove the tea from the heat and strain it into mugs.
Stir in honey to taste and serve warm.
Tip: If you prefer a stronger cinnamon flavor, let the tea steep with the cinnamon sticks for a few more minutes before serving.
- For a caffeine kick, add a bag of black tea during the last 3 minutes of simmering.
- You can store extra cinnamon tea in the refrigerator and enjoy it chilled or reheated.
