- 4 pieces Boneless chicken breasts
- 2 tablespoons Olive oil
- 3 cloves Garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon Cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon Ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper
- 2 tablespoons Lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley chopped
Step 1: Prepare the Marinade
In a mixing bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, ground cumin, salt, black pepper, and lemon juice.
Whisk the ingredients together until you get a well-blended marinade.
Marinating the chicken not only tenderizes it but lets those spices soak into every fiber.
Step 2: Marinate the Chicken
Place the chicken breasts on a cutting board and make shallow cuts with a sharp knife to help the marinade penetrate.
Place the chicken in a resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish.
Pour the marinade over the chicken, ensuring every piece is well-coated.
Seal the bag or cover the dish, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for deeper flavor.
The longer you marinate, the richer the taste. But don’t go overboard, or the acidity can toughen the meat.
Step 3: Cooking the Firebird Chicken
Preheat a large skillet or grill pan over medium heat. Add a bit of oil if using a skillet.
Place the chicken breasts on the pan and cook for about 6-7 minutes on each side or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
Use tongs to flip the chicken only once to maintain that lovely sear.
Never overcrowd the pan! Cooking in batches ensures each piece gets that perfect char.
Step 4: Let it Rest and Serve
Remove the chicken from the pan and let it rest for about 5 minutes. This lets the juices redistribute, keeping each bite juicy.
Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve hot.
Resting is just as important as cooking. It’s the difference between juicy and dry chicken.
- For Extra Spice: Add more cayenne pepper or try a dash of chili powder in the marinade.
- Tenderize with Yogurt: For an ultra-tender version, add a spoonful of yogurt to the marinade.
- Even Cooking: Pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness for a consistent cook.
