- 4 large Ripe tomatoes diced
- 1 small Red onion finely chopped
- 1 Jalapeño seeded and minced
- ¼ cup Fresh cilantro chopped
- 2 tablespoons Lime juice
- 2 cloves Garlic minced
- ½ teaspoon Salt
- ¼ teaspoon Ground black pepper
Step 1 – Prepare the Ingredients
Rinse all your vegetables under cold water.
Dice the tomatoes, making sure to remove the seeds.
Finely chop the red onion and cilantro.
Mince the garlic and jalapeño. Remember, if you want a milder salsa, completely remove the seeds from the jalapeño.
Note: Using fresh ingredients is key to a salsa that truly tastes like it’s straight from the border!
Step 2 – Mix Your Salsa
In a mixing bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, chopped onions, minced jalapeño, garlic, and cilantro.
Add the lime juice, salt, and black pepper.
Stir everything together until well combined. Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary.
Warning: When handling jalapeños, it’s a good idea to wear gloves to avoid any irritation.
Step 3 – Let It Marinate
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the salsa sit in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. This allows the flavors to meld together beautifully.
Note: The longer the salsa sits, the more developed the flavors will be.
- If you prefer a smoother salsa, give it a quick pulse in a blender or food processor.
- For an extra kick, add a pinch of cumin or a splash of hot sauce.
