Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • 8-inch baking dish
  • Peeler (if using fresh peaches)
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients

  • 6 cups Fresh peaches sliced
  • 1/4 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp Ground cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp All-purpose flour
  • For the topping:
  • 1 cup Old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup Light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp Ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 cup 1 stick Unsalted butter, chilled

Instructions

Step 1 – Prepare the Peaches

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced peaches, granulated sugar, 1 tsp of cinnamon, and flour. Toss gently to coat.
  • Transfer the peach mixture to an 8-inch baking dish.
  • Make sure each peach slice is evenly coated for the best flavor!

Step 2 – Make the Crisp Topping

  • In the same bowl (no need to wash it), mix the oats, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Cut the chilled butter into small pieces and add to the bowl.
  • Use your fingers or a pastry blender to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • The topping is what makes the crisp truly special—get your hands in there!

Step 3 – Assemble and Bake

  • Evenly sprinkle the topping over the peaches in the baking dish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the peach juices are bubbling.
  • Warning: The dish will be hot, and the aroma will be tempting—handle with care!

Notes

  • Variety: Experiment with different types of peaches for subtle flavor variations.
  • Texture: For a crunchier topping, add a handful of chopped nuts like almonds or pecans to the mixture.
