- 1 pound San Giorgio Macaroni
- 1/4 cup Butter
- 1/4 cup All-purpose flour
- 3 cups Milk
- 3 cups Cheddar cheese shredded
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese grated
- 1 tsp Mustard powder
- 1 tsp Paprika
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp Black pepper
- 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs
Step 2 – Make the Cheese Sauce
In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute to remove the raw flavor.
Gradually add milk, whisking continuously to prevent lumps.
Cook until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.
Remove from heat and stir in cheddar, parmesan, mustard powder, paprika, salt, and pepper until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
Warning: Keep stirring to avoid burning the sauce.
Step 3 – Combine and Bake
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked macaroni and cheese sauce.
Pour into the baking dish and sprinkle breadcrumbs on top.
Bake for 20 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
Pro Tip: For a crispier top, broil for the last 2-3 minutes.
- Cheese Variety: Feel free to experiment with different types of cheese for varying flavors.
- Sauce Consistency: Adjust the thickness of the sauce with more or less flour based on your preference.
