Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Small mixing bowl

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Pineapple juice
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 1 clove Garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger grated
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons Water

Instructions

Step 1 – Prepare the Juice Mixture

  • In your saucepan, combine the pineapple juice, brown sugar, soy sauce, minced garlic, and grated ginger.
  • Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir until the sugar dissolves.
  • Note: Always dissolve your sugar before ramping up the heat to avoid burning.

Step 2 – Thicken the Sauce

  • In a small mixing bowl, whisk together cornstarch and water until smooth.
  • Slowly pour the cornstarch mixture into the saucepan, whisking continuously.
  • Keep stirring until the sauce thickens. This should take about 5 minutes.
  • Warning: Whisk constantly to prevent the sauce from clumping.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add a dash of sriracha or your favorite hot sauce.
  • If the sauce is too thick, thin it out with a bit more pineapple juice or water.
